Brouwland donates 1,000 litres of hand gel to Beringen schoolchildren as schools reopen. When the clock struck 9 at the Spectrum College Campus Beringen today, Brouwland CEO Bart Balis presented the first batch of hygienic hand gels to Marc Robben, chairman of KOBel (Beringen and Lummen Catholic Education), in the presence of mayor Thomas Vints. It is how the Limburg company, impressive in its size, is contributing to a safe return to school.

Operation clean hands

A brewer knows how important hygienic working is. The many years of expertise Brouwland has in this area helps not only beer brewers and wine makers to create delicious alcoholic drinks, but it now also serves to bring the local community together in corona times. Brouwland provided a special production of 1,000 litres to be dispensed for use in hygienic hand gels, and to be distributed for free to the school community in Beringen.

Socially distanced handover

Thanks to this donation of 1,000 litres of hand gel, schoolchildren at more than 20 schools in and around Beringen can get back to learning with clean hands.

Bart Balis observed social distancing as he made a symbolic presentation of the first bottle to March Robben, chairman of the merged school board. We have been a permanent fixture in Beringen for almost 50 years, it is logical to give something back to the community in these challenging times, particularly to the school community”, says Bart Balis.

Care for others

Brouwland is not only a company in full expansion, it also cares for its people, nature, and the environment. Human capital and social engagement are core values.

What’s more, around twenty people from social enterprise Bewel work here on putting together brew kits, and they are just as much part of the warm Brouwland family.
