Large order from French supermarket chain

Brouwland, European market leader in home brewing equipment, has received a large order from one of the biggest supermarket chains in France. The fact this order came about in coronavirus times is no coincidence: many people turned their staycation into a brewcation. Initially, two types of beer brewing kits will be soon available in more than 200 shops. Brouwland and Bewel joined forces to make this project a success. After four weeks of hard work, the first ten trucks are set to collect the kits this week. So, you will soon be able to pick up your own all-in-one brewing kit with your weekly food shopping. You could say that France taught us how to make wine, but Brouwland is teaching the French to make beer!

Corporate responsibility

Since day one, Brouwland has considered responsible and sustainable enterprise to be vitally important. They are committed to the Voka Charter for Sustainable Enterprise; the energy demand is met through green electricity, solar panels, and heat pumps, for instance. What’s more, a Bewel team has helped Brouwland in Beverlo for many years with various warehouse and production tasks. But an order of this magnitude required a lot more helping hands, so we enlisted the support of the Bewel facilities in Tessenderlo. Thanks to a great collaboration between both companies, it was possible to respond quickly and finish the order on time. Brouwland project leader Jorina van Kerckhoven and Bewel team leader Dimitry Geuens made sure the whole project was successful.

A successful and long-term collaboration

“This is a unique project, not just for Brouwland, but also for Bewel”, says Dimitry. “Both quantity and quality were very important for this assignment. As well as ordering 150 full pallets, the customer also had very specific guidelines for packaging. From the way the pallets were stacked to the label on the kit. We managed the deadline just fine with a team of about twenty people, and we supplied the kits in line with all requirements.”

The existing mutual trust certainly helped as a basis for this successful collaboration. “I can only say that everything went well”, Jorina continues. “I was given the opportunity to help with the daily coordination on the Bewel work floor, so that we were always on the ball. Now that the first big order is out of the way, we can prepare for the stock follow-up and preventive preparation of additional kits. This collaboration is certainly not over yet.”
