SG or Specific Gravity

There are two important SW values that brewers use: Original Specific Gravity (OG) and Final Specific Gravity (FG). The OG is measured before the beer starts fermenting and the FG after the beer has finished fermenting.

The difference between these two values is used to calculate the alcohol content of the beer.
(OG - FG) x 0,135

To better monitor the brewing process, we recommend buying a hydrometer or choosing a Basic Plus or Deluxe starter kit.

The values specific to your preferred beer style can be found below.

Unique: No need to add water.

This means not only ultimate convenience, but also better flavor, optimal quality, and maximum freshness in your glass.

Simply pour the Fresh Wort into your fermenter, add yeast and optionally dry hop, and let fermentation do the rest.

Create your own top-quality craft beer without spending a full day brewing.

Perfect for both beginners and experienced homebrewers who want to focus on creativity and fermentation.

Cleaning

You can’t make a good beer without clean equipment. Cleaning is one of the most important steps of the brewing process. Hence, it is important to devote the necessary attention to this step and use the correct products.

This cleaning kit contains the most essential – must-have – Chemipro® cleaning products to ensure that your brewing equipment is always spotless and contamination doesn’t stand a chance.

1. Clean your equipment
Use Chemipro Oxi for a deep clean.
Rinse with water.
Finish with an acid rinse using Chemipro San.
Clean everything that touches the beer: fermenter, airlock, stirring spoon, siphon, bottles, etc.

2. Transfer the wort
Pour the 20 litres of wort directly into the cleaned fermenter.

3. Check the temperature
The wort should be between 18–22 °C.
Only add the yeast when the temperature is right.

4. Add the yeast
Sprinkle both yeast sachets onto the wort.
Do not stir.
Seal the fermenter and place an airlock.

5. Fermentation
Let ferment for 5–7 days at 18–22 °C.
Primary fermentation is done when the airlock stops and SG is stable.
Let the beer sit for 1 more week.

6. Bottling
Check that SG is stable for 2 days.
Add sugar for bottle conditioning:
Method 1: Bottling sugar
Transfer the beer to a bottling bucket.
Add 6–7 g of sugar per litre (dissolved in boiling water).
 Stir gently.
Method 2: Carbonation Drops
Add 1 carbonation drop per bottle.
Siphon the beer directly from the fermenter into bottles.
Cap the bottles.
Let them condition for 2–3 weeks at 20–24 °C.

7. Chill & enjoy
Let the beer rest cold for a few days (<10 °C).
This helps the CO₂ dissolve properly.

Bottling and refermenting in the bottle

After 2 weeks, fermentation is complete and you can start bottling your beer. Make sure to wait until the airlock is completely inactive.
There is almost no carbon dioxide in your beer at this point. To create carbon dioxide, you need to referment in the bottle by adding extra sugar to your beer bottles.

Your starter kit comes with a crown capper and crown caps.

All you need are bottles, which can be easily ordered from our online shop.

The yeast needs extra sugar. White table sugar will do just fine. The added sugar will ferment completely, so the beer will not taste sweeter. We always calculate 7 grams per litre (not per bottle!). That makes specifically per bottle:

Bottle of 1 litre7.00 grams of sugar
Bottle of 75 cl5.25 grams of sugar
Bottle of 50 cl3.50 grams of sugar
Bottle of 33 cl2.35 grams of sugar
Bottle of 25 cl1.75 grams of sugar

Don’t want to measure everything precisely? No problem!

Brewferm Carbionation Drops contain the exact amount of bottle sugar needed for 33 cl, 50 cl or 75 cl bottles.

It’s as simple as that!

Carbonation drops

1 drop contains precisely the exact amount of bottling sugar you need to carbonate 1 bottle, filled with your unique home-brewed beer

  • Always the exact amount of sugar per bottle; no gushers, no flat beer
  • Good for carbonating 60 bottles of 33 cl, or ± 20 litres of beer
  • Convenient shape so the drops easily pass through the bottle’s neck
  • Less risk of infection; no need to transfer to another vessel
